His Holiness the Dalai Lama visit Jangchub Choeling Nunnery on December 15, 2017 to inaugurate the new Debate hall
His Holiness the great 14th Dalai Lama inaugurated our new debate courtyard on 15th December 2017, With his blessing, the inauguration ceremony was done successfully and the Jangchub Choeling nuns are beyond blessed and fortunate to get his rare audience in our very own debate courtyard.
We are deeply thankful and grateful to His Holiness for his far-sighted vision and support on which Jangchub Choeling was founded. Under the guidance and unfailing assistance from Gen Sangye la from the very beginning of root construction to the finishing, this debate courtyard was successfully constructed. And of course aldo with the support from many kind sponsors and generous people who made it all possible for us to witness the day of inauguration. HIS HOLINESS VISITS JANGCHUB CHOELING NUNNERY IN 2008
It was a blessed year 2008 that His Holiness kindly visited our nunnery to Inaugurate the main Assembly Hall, His Holiness’s active support and guidance to the nuns of Jangchub Choeling has been instrumental since its commencement.
During the Inauguration ceremony, His Holiness had delivered a powerful speech, he started by acknowledging the nuns of Jangchub Choeling for being the most active and best at debate among the nunneries in india. He also extended his greetings and thankful note to all our kind sponsors for their virtuous action, he stated that
“As we are followers of great Nalanda tradition, we must consider that, By the virtue of these merits, may this bring benefit and happiness to countless sentient beings, and it is important to seal this dedication with the view of empitiness.”
His Holiness also made a point that “we must try to make the 21st century, a century of non-violence with the feeling of love and affection.”
Regarding the study of the nuns, His Holiness mentioned that it is extremely important for them to study which indeed improves their wisdom and realization of the path towards attainning the omniscient state of buddhahood.
His Holiness states,
“The study of the great treatises is extremely important. So has the “Tibetan Department of Religion and Culture” approved a resolution on nuns attaining the female geshe (Geshema) degree.”
As according to His Holiness’s vision, He states,
“With the idea that you are studying to become teachers, if you do well in study and practice, and become well qualified, then if each student could take the initiative on their own in the future to serve the buddhadharma in the various countries, this would be a great thing.”
HIS HOLINESS THE 14TH DALAI LAMA VISION AND SUPPORT FOR THE JANGCHUB CHOELING EDUCATION AND WELFARE SOCIETY IN YEAR 1987 WITH FIRST 18TH NUNS
with the vision and support from of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Jangchub Choeling Education And Welfare Society was founded in 1987. There were first 18 nuns in the beginning,all from Doeguling Tibetan settlement.
First 18th nuns taking oath from his holiness the 14th Dalai lama and His Holiness advising nuns to study the Nalanda tradition of Buddhism and to practice 21st Century Buddha follower.
Nuns continue their modern schooling in Day and had scripture studying in evening. There was then no electricity in the nunnery in evening and nuns had to study under lamp. Later, German nun Ven. Jampa Tsedron la helped the nunnery obtain a better facility.
Slowly, more nuns participated and admitted with the development in facilities and infrastructure.
